#1 - last night, Pat and I are getting ready for bed...shepherd group just left. i'm in the bathroom washing my face, he's in the closet get his clothes for the morning. all of a sudden he yells...LOUD. i dash into the bedroom and i can see the blur of him (i've taken my contacts out and i'm so blind) and i'm squinting and looking at the floor saying, "oh my gosh!" he's like, "Courtney, the light from the CLOSET fell off the ceiling...why are you looking at the bedroom floor?" (i was looking at absolutely nothing...just thought since that's where he was, that that was where the problem was.) we laughed for a long time...that ugly laugh when your face is all scrunched up...it felt good. and we got all the glass cleaned up - wierd!
#2 - my 10k is this saturday. i'm excited. it's my first race. we are going to stay with good friends for the weekend and see other good friends that we don't see often enough. so, today was my last day to run...i get to take thurs and friday off. well, from the first step this morning i knew i was in trouble. i kept waiting for it to wear off and "get into my groove"...my legs were like lead...but 30 minutes into our 40 minute run i started feeling stuff rising into my throat from my stomach and had to call it quits. i walked home...(thanks for walking with me, Chris!) i felt like a failure. any runners out there? please tell me this is normal. and please tell me i'll be fine on saturday for the race.

I definitely cannot call myself a "runner" at this point, but wanted to offer a word of encouragement! You'll do great on Sat...you're in great shape and you're been preparing well. Today must have just been a fluke...nerves? Your body can totally do this, just have to maintain control of your mind! I wish we could be there to cheer you on in person!
I agree with Michelle. Try not to let it get to you. Its good to rest. We can't wait to see you guys.
Some days you just have a bad run. I wouldn't worry about it. You're doing the smart thing letting your body rest and relax between now and Saturday. Michelle hit the nail on the head, it's all a matter of attitude. Keeping a good attitude regardless of what happens makes a bad day turn out to be good. Don't forget to hydrate well between now and Saturday. I can't wait to run with you and take care of yourself!!
